Jamestown Trail Day!
The Jamestown spring trail day is set for Saturday, 5/5/07.
Since Alabama Power Company did not renew the hiking easement to cross their property, we'll be working on the road and trail for the new access from the valley. There's some major work to get done and we need as much help as possible. There are trees to clear and a couple of culvert pipes to put in. A local climber has rounded up a bobcat for that day which will be a huge help. The landowner is also willing to help us out with his tractor, but we need lots of manpower too.
We'll be meeting at the new parking area in the valley about 9:15 am local time (directions below). Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.
Please bring shovels, picks, chain saws, loppers, snips, pry bars, wheel barrows, & gloves.

Directions to Jamestown valley approach:
From Ft. Payne, AL - take Hwy 35 towards Little River Canyon(follow the brown signs), go over the falls bridge and down the mountain. Turn left on County Road 15 (there’s an old gas station/country store on the left) and go approximately 3 miles (passing Moseley Cemetery on the left) look for a dirt/gravel road on the left that looks like a driveway (cause it is). There is a small green sign with the numbers 3147 at the driveway. Follow the driveway, past an old stone dam, then a couple of houses. Keep going past the pond and red barn & you’ll see the power lines on the left, look for orange & silver flagging and a gate. Park here, unless you have a 4WD & want to attempt to drive up the power lines. This is temporary until the permanent parking area is completed.
Follow the flagging, hike up the power lines, over/around a fence up the hill to the cliff.
PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL OF THE NEARBY PROPERTY OWNERS, DRIVE SLOWLY, WE ARE USING THEIR DRIVEWAY TO ACCESS THE CRAG.
