an old entry
the following is from a blog from my personal site from 10.13.03, but i thought i to be a bit more relevant to this site so i have copied it over here too. enjoy (some of the movies might not work because i have changed them, and the ones that don't are now here)
this weekend i went to horsepens 40 and went bouldering. i have prepared a bit of a video diary on the events of that day. here goes:
i woke up at 6 am and James came over and we left. we played around on a few climbs and i then did genesis and genecide, i then gave skywalker a few tries, (that is going to be one my goal for this year i think) the i did cuts like a knife which for some reason had been giving me problems last year. then on to uniball which i had ne'er a videoed. so i did that. then i started to suck so we left.
so jody...
said something on his blog the other day that caught my eye. he said that he was going to make his new years resolution to boulder more. i am so proud! i like to think that i have at least to a little to do with this major decision in his climbing career. and it is good to see he has finally come around.
taking votes
of the 5 (read: not many) people that visit this site, how many think that the site takes too long to load. vote in the comments
even if you don't vote i am still going to work to size the files down a little when i get the chance, seeing as how i am redesigning anyways.
site design
i decided to update the design of the site again today and clean it up a bit, which i did. but i haven't really finished yet so if for some reason if the buttons stop working or something just hit refresh in your browser window to reset it. but most everything should be working.
horsepens 40
yesterday, jody and jimmy staut and i went to horsepens 40 for the day. it was a perfect day for climbing and i finally got on some stuff that i had been wanting to do like super coola V6 and jody and i both repeated millipede again and jimmy just did about everything. unfortunately i think the dyno comp the night before not only wasted my finger tips but also fatigued me a bit and kinda made my day end before i wanted it to. but fun was had anyways. jimmy put up a new no hands tennis shoe problem between 5 o and the boulder behind it, which i managed to get a video of. i think it went at about v4. and also i took some other general pictures for your viewing enjoyment.
DYNO COMP
I went to the premiere of Coop's new video release party and had a great time on wednesday. there were lots of people there and everybody was having a good time. Jeff Wales set some great problems for the dyno comp and got 16 people competing. i managed to get a few shots and videos of it, which i have linked to below. the final standing in the dyno comp after a superfinal in which we had to do the horizontal dyno which is featured in a video and a supersuperfinal the results were:
1. Jason Silvey
2. Winslow Taft
3. Heath Bailey
coop's video was great and has some really great problems on it. one of the moments in it that stuck in my memory was James Litz on Crown of Aragon V13 in hueco and at one point he has a open hand crimp on a tiny hold and he rolls it into a closed crimp. it is amazing! you've got to see it to believe it. i think you can pick up the video at The Urban Outpost and probably other places that i just don't know about.
SESSIONS video premiere
Cooper Roberts new full length movie SESSIONS will be premiering on Wednesday December 17 at the Urban Outpost in birmingham. For more info click here. I hope to see everyone there, There will be a dyno comp, presentation, book signing, and q&a with Arno Iigner, and don't forget REFRESHMENTS, sierra nevada on tap and higher grounds coffee. see you guys there, i gotta do some christmas shopping now.
Today I came to...
the conclusion that flash and blogs, just don't work for me right now, and are too difficult for me to manage so i have moved the blog out the the intro page of the site. also there is now a very easy way to comment on my posts or movies or pictures or lack there of by just clicking the "comments" link at the bottom of each post.

well the final triple crown competition happened this weekend at horsepens 40. the temps were awesome and the rock was dry, perfect for some sick sends. lots of hard stuff went down. and in the end Andrew Trailer came out on top of the guys standings and Anna Burgos won the womens. Second place for the guys was Jeremy Watson and third went to Matt Bosley, but Bosley did place first overall in the whole Triple Crown standings. i shot quite i few pictures and hopefully i will have those up by the end of the week. i personally didn't climb much at the comp, seeing as how i was supposed to be "judging" and area, but after a while i just had to go and get my shoes and try some problems. no real sends of note, just some repeats and some v4/5's that i hadn't really seen until there were little pieces of paper marking them. so basically i really didn't get in enough climbing on saturday, which necessitated a trip out to the boulderfields today. i finally steered away from reignition for a session to see i would have more luck on some other problems and sure enough, i had some great luck with hoop dreams although i have a feeling i didn't do the right top out, either way, i will get it soon. after i did that, i noticed that i had a small hole in my finger tip that was bleeding so i called it quits. it was wierd i never felt any pain or thinness in my tips and then, BLOOD. oh well, it isn't serious. i guess some little pebble just got me. well i think that is enough of that. if you wanna tell me the right beta for the hoop dreams top out just click "comment here" below and post it in the rock climbing forum. take it easy!

i made a quick trip out to the boulderfields today because i just happened to be in the area and ran into daniel and jeff jones. daniel and i worked a little on tommy h but to no avail, however daniel is just missing the top move. i did however send reignition for the first time this year today so that was good. after that i decided it was a good send to end on and headed home. now on to beef it and hoop dreams!
i also added a forum on my bulletin board for threads about climbing, you can get to it by clicking the "COMMENT HERE" link below and posting into the "CLIMBING" category. post whatever you want to, your personal sends, questions about beta, beta, new routes, rips on me for never updating, etc... just post

i don't think that i have to tell you how long it has been since i have updated the site, if you ever visit you already know, and if not then just for your info i update it EVERY DAY. Anyways, after running into Jeff Jones at the boulderfields on tuesday and hearing him say that he checks or at least did a while back it made me thing that maybe i have let my loyal fans down and that i should try and win them back. so here you go. today i combined a bunch of horsepens 40 videos into one SUPER VIDEO and added more videos from hueco and city of rocks, nm from last january. i also updated the reignition video with new tunes (which was requested by a mr. james parker. what else did i do? oh yeah, i made it easier to update this dilly so maybe i will do that more often. So in conclusion, you haven't missed out on much if you haven't checked in a while, but come back soon, as the weather is just getting nice and i really want to do some more videoing soon. and i probably have some pictures to add too, but that will be a little while longer. so if you see jeff jones thank him for this update and if you like the site, drop me an email, or send me one of your own videos and i will post it up for you. ok cya at horsepens...

man do i ever suck at updating this thing! there has been alot going on since the last post. we (sean, jody, and i) have been climbinging in colorado, new mexico and back to hueco. jody has redpointed his first 12a, and i just sent Reignition [v9]. so i put a few new videos up of some of that stuff, and also posted more photos of different areas thanks largely in part to brent perkins, ryan mcnulty, and amy jo young (pro fotog). so check around and see whats new, and of course keep on keepin on.

I am still working on the red river gorge journal, but i am sure i will finish it eventually. I did, however put up some instructions on how to make your own boulder pad. These instructions are ones i used to make mine, which has worked flawlessly for 3 years now. You can find that page at the top right of the map. Also, the Red is a smaller boulder to the left of the rest of the climbing area boulders. no more time to type now, the weather is just too good outside--time to climb!

i apologize to those of you who have been coming to the site to see something new and there was nothing, but school got a little busy at the end (as it always does) and i haven't had anytime to update the site. But now i am out for the summer so i will be able to update it often, not that i will neccessarily have any new content for it but whenever i do i will put it up.
with this latest update i have added more pictures from Hueco Tanks, and soon i will add more general pictures and divide the photo page up so that the file size is not quite so bad. cya and pull hard!

well, i updated the site today and decided to add this section to give information on what has been updated and also what my cohorts and i have been doing on the rock. Hopefully i will be able to keep this section updated and you well informed (as if you cared). today jody and i were going to go climbing but it is raining really hard and the gym just didn't sound very good, so here i am. i put up some new pictures on the pictures page and there are two new videos (one of the [tree problem] v6 + topout, and the other of jody, sean and my campus workout last night. anyways.....
